As a patient at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara with Sansum Clinic, an appointment at the Nuclear Medicine department may be a first step toward diagnosis. Nuclear medicine imaging provides physicians with images that are valuable tools in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease processes. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures are noninvasive and usually painless medical tests that help physicians evaluate cancer and other medical conditions.
The Nuclear Medicine department at the Cancer Center, under the direction of Dr. William Pace, consists of a team of highly trained technologists with many years of combined experience utilizing specialized equipment. Our Nuclear Medicine department is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL), a recognition of the commitment to high quality patient care provided by our staff. This accreditation is comprehensive and includes general Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
In keeping with our mission statement of being at the vanguard of medicine, the Cancer Center consistently acquires the latest equipment for the department of Nuclear Medicine. To learn more about our equipment, please visit our Nuclear Medicine Technology page.
