Cancer Center Walk/Run

In 2007, the Cancer Center, together with the Four Seasons Biltmore, will host the 15^th annual Cancer Center Walk/Run in Montecito on October 14 ^th. At last year's event, nearly 700 participants raised over $154,000 to benefit our local cancer research program.

This event features a 10K run, a 5K walk or fun run and a 1 mile run for children 12 and under. All of the money raised, 100% of the run registration and pledges, is used to support the clinical research program at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara. This program enables area physicians to participate in national research projects to bring promising new cancer treatment methods to patients in Santa Barbara. In addition, funds are used to support two post-doctoral fellowships in basic science research at UCSB.

Cancer Survivor Team

Among the participants will be a group of cancer survivors taking part as a team. These are people who know first hand what it is like to be diagnosed with cancer and have experienced the benefits of cancer research. They run as a symbol of hope.
